Tosin Lawson is an entrepreneur and the Founder & CEO of African Things, a design and production company with over 10 years of experience creating African-inspired products for wholesale and retail markets within and outside Nigeria. Through African Things, she works closely with local producers to deliver culturally inspired, well-crafted products to corporate and lifestyle clients globally. Leveraging her strong retail and merchandising expertise, Tosin has successfully partnered with and stocked products in major retail outlets across Nigeria, including SPAR, Mega Plaza, and Blenco, expanding the visibility and commercial reach of African-inspired design. Tosin holds a BEng (Hons) in Product Design and Manufacture from the University of Nottingham and an MBA from Lagos Business School. She is an alumnus of the FATE Foundation and was selected as one of 1,000 entrepreneurs across Africa to participate in the Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurship Programme (TEEP) in 2015, recognising her business impact and growth potential. Before founding African Things, Tosin worked as a Design Executive at The Chair Centre, where she collaborated closely with Mrs. Ibukun Awosika. In this role, she contributed to the development of new furniture designs, enhanced the company’s marketing strategy, and led the translation of client spaces into detailed 3D representations and floor plans. She also redesigned The Chair Centre’s website and supported the brand’s marketing efforts through the creation of compelling marketing collateral. Beyond business, Tosin is a passionate human rights advocate and humanitarian. She was a founding member of Fight Against COVID, a charity initiative launched in partnership with SPAR during the COVID-19 pandemic to provide food relief to vulnerable communities. As part of the core team, she helped raise over ₦5 million to support the initiative. She has also volunteered with the Sickle Cell Society in the UK, contributing to community health and awareness efforts.
